How to use the yes or no wheel
- Type your question at the top of the wheel, if you like. It is shown with the answer and in full screen.
- Press Spin, click the wheel or press Space.
- Read the big answer on the right. Your last answers are listed under it.
Turn on Add “Maybe” for a third answer, or Best of 3 to let the wheel spin up to three times: the first answer to win twice is the result.
Are the odds really 50/50?
Yes. The answer is drawn first with your browser’s cryptographic random number generator, so Yes and No each have exactly a 50% chance (a third each with Maybe). The wheel then lands on one of that answer’s slices. Yes and No each have four slices, so the wheel looks lively without changing the odds.
When a spin helps
- Small choices that eat time: order in or cook, go out or stay in, one more episode or bed.
- Breaking a tie when two options feel the same.
- Finding out what you want: if you feel disappointed by the answer, that tells you something too.
- Classroom games: true or false rounds, or deciding who answers a question.
For decisions with real consequences, use the wheel as a nudge, not a verdict.
Best of three
Best of 3 spins until one answer has won twice, so the series stops after two spins when they agree. With Maybe turned on, three different answers can come up; the wheel calls that a split and you can spin again.
Questions and answers
Is the yes or no wheel fair?
Yes. Each answer has exactly the same chance, drawn with a cryptographic random number generator. The wheel animation only shows the result.
Can I add “maybe” to the wheel?
Yes. Tick Add “Maybe” (or press M) and the wheel shows Yes, No and Maybe, each with a one-in-three chance.
What does best of three do?
It spins up to three times and stops as soon as one answer has two wins. The series is shown under the answer.
Can I show it on a big screen?
Yes. Press F or the full screen button. Your question, the wheel and the answer fill the screen.
Does it remember my answers?
Your last answers and settings are kept in this browser only. They are never uploaded.
Is there a version with my own options?
Yes: the spin the wheel tool takes any list you type, and the coin flip is the quickest way to settle a two-way choice.
