How to flip a coin online
- Press Flip, tap the coin, or press the Space bar.
- Watch it spin and land. The result is shown under the coin and read out to screen readers.
- Keep flipping: the tally counts heads and tails, shows your current streak and the last 24 flips.
Flip 10 times and Flip 100 times run a quick batch and show the split and the longest run, which is handy for probability lessons.
A truly fair coin
Heads or tails is decided by your browser’s cryptographic random number generator, with exactly a 50% chance each. The flip animation is drawn after the result is known and lands on it. A real coin can be very slightly biased by how it is thrown and which side starts up; this one cannot.
Streaks are normal
If you get five heads in a row, the coin is not broken. Every flip is independent, so the next flip is still 50/50. In 100 flips, a run of six or seven of the same side is common; try a batch of 100 and look at the longest run.
Over many flips the split settles close to half and half, but rarely exactly. That is what fair randomness looks like.
Ways to use a coin flip
- Who goes first in a game or sport.
- Settling a two-way choice quickly. For more than two options, try the wheel or the yes or no wheel.
- Teaching probability with the tally and the 100-flip batch.

Questions and answers
Is the online coin flip 50/50?
Yes. Each flip uses a cryptographic random number generator and gives heads or tails with exactly equal odds.
Why did I get the same side many times in a row?
Streaks are a normal part of randomness. Each flip is independent, so earlier flips do not change the next one. Runs of five or more happen often over many flips.
Can I flip a coin many times at once?
Yes. Flip 10 times and Flip 100 times show the result of a whole batch instantly, with the split and the longest run.
Does the tally reset when I leave?
No, it is kept in this browser until you press Reset. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Can I flip with the keyboard?
Yes, press Space. Press F to show the coin full screen.
