How to use the who goes first wheel

    1. Sit down with the game set up. Anyone spins.
    2. Read the rule and work it out together. If two players tie (same birthday month, two people with no pets), spin again just for them.
    3. That player goes first, and play continues to their left as usual.
    4. If a rule cannot work at your table (only one person has ever traveled), click Hide on the winner card and spin again.

Turn order for the whole table

If the game needs a full order rather than just a first player, clear the box and type the players’ names. Turn on Remove the winner after each spin and spin once per player: the order they come up is the turn order. For four to six players it takes under a minute.

For a quick tie-break between two people, the coin flip is faster. For dice-based games, everyone can roll the dice roller and the highest total starts.

    Make it yours

    • Family rules: add the ones your family already argues about, like “Whoever made dinner” or “Last to finish homework”.
    • Game-themed: for a space game, “Last to look at the stars”; for a farming game, “Last to pet an animal”.
    • Classroom: use “Wearing something blue” or “Birthday in spring” to pick the first group for a review game.

    Questions and answers

Why not just let the youngest go first?

You can, but at a regular game night the same person starts every week. A wheel of rules spreads the advantage around and gives the table something to laugh about before the first turn.

    Does going first matter?

In many games it is a small advantage, which is why some rulebooks give later players a bit extra to start. Whatever your game says, a random way to choose the first player keeps it fair over many games.

Can I save my players for next time?

Yes. Type the names, then save the wheel in My wheels. It stays in this browser until you delete it.
