    How to roll dice online

    1. Choose how many dice (1 to 10) and which kind: d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20 or d100.
    2. Add a modifier if your game uses one, such as +2 for an ability bonus.
    3. Press Roll, tap the dice, or press Space (or R). The total and the sum are shown under the dice.

Use the ↑ and ↓ arrow keys to add or remove dice. Your last 20 rolls are listed in the panel.

    Fair virtual dice

Each die is rolled with your browser’s cryptographic random number generator, so every face has exactly the same chance: one in six on a d6, one in twenty on a d20. The tumbling animation starts after the numbers are decided and lands on them. Real dice can be slightly uneven; these cannot.

    Dice notation, quickly

Games write dice as NdS+M: N dice with S sides, plus a modifier M. The label on the dice tray shows what you are rolling in that notation.

    NotationMeansRange
    1d20One twenty-sided die1 to 20
    2d6Two six-sided dice, added2 to 12 (7 is most likely)
    3d6+2Three d6, plus 25 to 20
    1d100One percentile die1 to 100

    Good for

    • Board games when a die has gone missing.
    • Tabletop RPGs such as Dungeons & Dragons: attack rolls, damage, ability checks.
    • Math lessons on probability: roll 2d6 twenty times and see why 7 comes up most.

Everything happens in your browser. Your lists are saved on this device only, and nothing you type is sent to us or anyone else.

    Questions and answers

Is this online dice roller fair?

Yes. Every roll uses a cryptographic random number generator with an unbiased method, so each face is exactly as likely as any other.

    Which dice can I roll?

d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20 and d100, from one to ten dice at a time. The d6 is drawn as a 3D cube with pips; the others show their number.

How do I add a modifier?

Set the Modifier in the panel, from −50 to +50. It is added to the total, and the sum under the dice shows the working.

Can I roll dice with the keyboard?

Yes. Space or R rolls, the arrow keys change the number of dice, and F goes full screen.

    Does it keep my rolls?

Your last 20 rolls and your dice settings stay in this browser only. Use Clear to remove the history.

What is the most likely total with two dice?

Seven. Six of the 36 ways two d6 can land add up to 7, more than any other total. 2 and 12 are the rarest, with one way each.
