A weekly family night routine
- Pick a regular slot, like Friday after dinner, and keep it for six weeks. Kids look forward to a ritual more than a surprise.
- Take turns pressing Spin, youngest first. Whoever spins gets to choose the snack.
- Use Remove the winner after each spin so the list works its way through every activity before anything repeats.
- Stop while it is still fun. For young kids, 30–45 minutes is plenty.
Making activities work across ages
- Scavenger hunt: pictures for non-readers, riddles for older kids. Pair a big kid with a little one so both are busy.
- Charades: toddlers act animals, everyone else acts films or jobs. The charades wheel has ready-made words.
- Talent show: everyone does one act of up to two minutes. Telling a joke counts.
- Make a comic: fold paper into six panels; the youngest draws, an older child writes the words.
- Old photo night: grandparents tell the story behind three photos. Kids ask one question each.
Make it yours
Every family has activities nobody enjoys and favorites that never get old. Delete the first, weight the second (“Dance party *2”) and add your own traditions. Let each child add one idea a month, and save the result in My wheels as your family list.
Questions and answers
What ages does this suit?
Roughly 3 and up, with adults joining in. For a toddler-only afternoon, remove the board and card games and keep the movement ones: dance party, playground, sidewalk chalk, nature walk.
What if the kids fight over the result?
Agree the rule before the spin: the wheel decides, and the person who did not like it chooses next week’s snack. Spinning on a shared screen in full screen mode (press F) makes it feel like an event, which also helps.
