The two-spin movie night
- Remove any genre someone in the room truly can’t watch. For a family night, take out Horror, Thriller and Crime, or anything above the age rating you use.
- Spin for the genre.
- Each person has three minutes to name one film in that genre they would happily watch. Type the titles into the box, replacing the genres.
- Spin again. That is the film. Press Reset afterwards to bring the genres back for next time.
Genre challenges
- A year of genres: turn on Remove the winner after each spin and watch one film from each genre, one a week. 26 genres fill six months.
- The classics project: spin, then pick a well-regarded film in that genre made before you were born.
- Double feature: spin twice and find two films that work together, like a western and a sci-fi film set on a frontier planet.
- Mockumentary or musical? The odd genres are the reason to spin. If you never watch them, give them a weight of 2 for a month.
Make it yours
Streaming catalogs bury small genres. Add the ones you love (“Anime”, “Bollywood”, “Nature documentary”, “Stand-up special”) and delete the ones you never choose. Keep a version in My wheels for family nights and another for when the kids are asleep.

Yes. Clear the list and type up to 100 titles, one per line, such as your watchlist. Use Share link so the people you are watching with can see the options before the spin.
Is a genre wheel good for kids’ movie night?
It works well once you trim it to Animation, Family, Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy, Musical, Sports and Superhero. Kids enjoy pressing the button, and the decision feels fair to siblings.
