Breakfast ideas wheel

Twenty-six breakfasts, about half of them ready in ten minutes and the rest worth a slow Saturday. Most people eat the same three breakfasts on repeat, so let the wheel add a fourth.

Weekday or weekend: two ways to spin

The wheel mixes quick breakfasts with slow ones on purpose. On a school morning you do not want it to land on eggs Benedict, so either trim the list or use weights.

    • Weekday wheel: set the slow ones to “*0” (pancakes, waffles, French toast, eggs Benedict, huevos rancheros, banana bread, congee). They stay in the list, but the wheel skips them.
    • Weekend wheel: do the opposite, or save a second copy in My wheels with only the slow ones.
    • Make-ahead night: if it lands on overnight oats, chia pudding or egg muffins, that is a job for the evening before.

Three make-ahead breakfasts from the wheel

    • Overnight oats: equal parts rolled oats and milk (or yogurt and milk), a spoon of chia if you have it, fruit on top. Into the fridge overnight, eat cold or warmed.
    • Egg muffins: whisk 8–10 eggs with chopped vegetables and cheese, pour into a greased muffin tin and bake at about 180°C (350°F) for 20 minutes. They keep in the fridge for a few days.
    • Chia pudding: about 3 tablespoons of chia seeds to a cup of milk, stirred twice in the first ten minutes so it does not clump, then left overnight.

    With kids

Let children spin on Friday for Saturday breakfast and help cook it. Pancakes, French toast and breakfast tacos are good first recipes: measuring, whisking and flipping with an adult at the stove.

    Questions and answers

What can I add for a high-protein breakfast?

Eggs in any form, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, a breakfast burrito with beans, or peanut butter on toast. Add them as separate slices or weight the ones already there, like “Scrambled eggs *2”.

Why are rice and miso soup and congee on a breakfast wheel?

Because a big part of the world eats rice in the morning. Congee is a slow-cooked rice porridge eaten across East and Southeast Asia, and rice with miso soup is a classic Japanese breakfast. Delete them if they are not for you.

Does the wheel save my changes?

Yes, on this device. Edits stay for this page, and Reset brings back the original 26 if you want to start over.
