Plan a week of dinners in five minutes

    1. Turn on Remove the winner after each spin in Options.
    2. Spin five times for Monday to Friday. Write each result on the fridge list or in your notes.
    3. Check the list against your week: swap a long recipe onto a quiet night, and a 20-minute one onto the night of practice or late meetings.
    4. Write the shopping list from the five dinners while you are still looking at them.
    5. Press Reset next weekend to bring all 30 back.

    Fast, medium and weekend dinners

Not every dish on the wheel suits every night. Roughly, they fall into three groups, so you can trim the list to the time you have.

    • About 20 minutes: quesadillas, egg fried rice, pesto pasta, chicken stir-fry, shakshuka, fish tacos.
    • About 45 minutes: fajitas, sheet-pan chicken, pasta bake, stuffed peppers, salmon and rice, burrito bowls.
    • Slow or weekend: shepherd’s pie, chili con carne, jambalaya, mushroom risotto, homemade pizza.

Make a separate wheel for each group and save them in My wheels as “Quick”, “Normal” and “Sunday”. Then the only question at 5 p.m. is which wheel to spin.

    Make it yours

Delete what your household will not eat, and add the family recipes nobody writes down. Weight the dinners that use up what you already have: “Egg fried rice *2” when there is leftover rice in the fridge. Use “*0” to rest a dish you have eaten three times this month without deleting it.

    Questions and answers

How is this different from the what to eat wheel?

This one is for cooking at home: every slice is a real recipe with a shopping list. The what to eat wheel mixes in takeout ideas for nights when nobody wants to cook.

How do I handle a picky eater?

Let them add two dinners they like to the wheel and agree that whatever lands is cooked, with a plain side they can always fill up on. Children are more willing to try a dish the wheel picked than one a parent picked.

Can I stop the same dinner coming up every week?

Plan with remove on, as above, and do not reset until the whole list has been cooked once. You get a 30-dinner rotation without thinking about it.
